RIP Studio Liverpool

It truly is a sad time with the recent news of Studio Liverpool getting shut down.  I was personally heartbroken and badly.  I felt like my dog got run over by a car.

Countless hours of my youth were spent playing all the games in the wipEout series, as well as, Destruction Derby, Blast Radius, and Armour-Geddon.  The developers and designers truly produced superior products and when partnered with Designers Republic proved to be on the cutting edge of innovation.

I remember running home with tremendous excitement with the first Playstation game I have ever purchased.  I frantically ripped the plastic packaging off and gazed so wide-eyed at the beginning sequence for wipEout.  The imagery, animation, and music immersed me into an environment that was completely unfamiliar and unknowingly changed my life forever.  That moment in my childhood was extremely enlightening and played a very large role at inspiring me to become the artist and animator I am now and aspire to be.

Studio Liverpool will certainly be missed, but the inspiration they have planted into a generation will live on forever.  Thank you Studio Liverpool - Psygnosis for all of your efforts and for changing my life.

Now-a-days I try my hardest to not get political or make any statements about things, but I've had a long time theory that almost all of the problems in modern day society deeply stem from two things:  greed and a complete lack of integrity.  From the official statement by SONY As part of SCE Worldwide Studios, we do regular reviews to ensure that the resources we have can create and produce high quality, innovative and commercially viable projects in an increasingly competitive market place" it is clear that greed and a lack of integrity were the two main factors in shutting the doors.

I truly wish everyone well at Studio Liverpool and hope they find a way to keep the fires of their ideas and innovation burning.

wipEout OST

This is a cardboard sleeve designed for the soundtrack of the legendary video game franchise wipEout

Moonlight!

Nightmare'ish Stripper Monster Thing

I know that this illustration isn't exactly my usual type of thing, so I'll explain it a little bit.  I had a really weird dream where I was being chased down and attacked by crazy monsters in a futuristic colony on a different planet.

I have no idea what that dream was supposed to mean or represent, but it scared the crap out of me.  I just had to draw what I saw and I really liked this illustration and was great practice for drawing the female form, or something like that.

Muero Apparo Designs

It's too bad Steven never used this shirt design.  I believe he used it for a poster or something.

Mad Scientist

Here are a few sketches of a mad scientist

Lil' Peeble

This is a charming animation of a boy who finds the "Lil Peeble".  I believe I was in school when I made this.  However, no matter how old it is, I will always like this short for some reason.

Also, it features Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard by Paul Simon!  Can't go wrong with good music, unless Paul Simon ever sues me.  Then things would probably go very wrong very quickly.

Dog Fight!

This is a short that I banged out in an all nighter back in 2007.  The animation isn't my finest work, but it was my first attempt at compositing both 2D and 3D animation.  I think the artwork is cute, and the music is by Devo!  Even though this isn't the best animated short in the world it is still full of charm.

Stupid Science

This is the very first Flash animation I ever produced.  It was a final project for one of my classes.  All of the art and animation was produced using Flash MX5, before Macromedia was ever owned by Adobe.

When I look back at this project it brings back a lot of nostalgia of the long nights in college just drawing and animating until my hands fell off.  I've certainly come a long way from the old drawing style I used to use.

Well anyways, here's the animation:
